These are Patterns closely linked to the effects of events in games. They differ from Action Patterns in that they deal with they updating of game state value based upon measurable events while Action Patterns focuses on what players do to affect gameplay. They do have a close relation since player actions result in gameplay events (but gameplay events may also occur due to other reasons).
